This short article is written in response to Otto Ekevi’s ongoing campaign to discredit Robert Barestrand. In the last days he has ramped up his efforts and is currently bombarding the Facebook groups he is a member of with identical articles. This article is intended to rebuke Ekevi’s aggressive attacks.
It is said that truth is stranger than fiction. Applied to this writing some may find it overwhelming to grasp that one single individual has experienced such stunning events. In particular the murder of Olof Palme, but also the Estonia ferry disaster, have given raise to a wide range of speculations throughout the years. Even til this day there are seminars, books written, podcasts, Youtube channels as well as other platforms discussing these issues in a broad array of perspectives.
That which differs regarding Roberts denunciations related to the above, is that the experiences are first hand and witnessed. This applies particularly to the case of the Palme murder, although most certainly also to the Estonia matter, albeit not as graphically. It can be described as unique in the history of the aftermath related to both the events.
Not that claims and statements off inside knowledge have been lacking in connection with these immense events, but none of these have ever survived a profound screening. Thus it can not be emphasised enough how Roberts statements differ from the aforementioned.
Having actually been present at the scene of the crime, the murder of Olof Palme, making observations as well as knowing those involved, is simply unprecedented. As the same individuals are said to be responsible for the sinking of the M/V Estonia, it is therefore nothing short of a bombshell being delivered.
Since, especially concerning the Palme case, Roberts declarations can in several instances be corroborated, it therefore must be concluded that the statements are self-experienced. Returning to M/V Estonia Roberts information there can be verified in a more implicit sense, though this in no way degrades the value of the statements in question.
Being intertwined with those responsible also presented Robert with the true underlying motives. Following the Murder of Olof Palme rapid changes to the nation took place. From being a sovereign country where big finance was kept under control for the benefit of the people, the country was transformed into a cesspool by extreme neoliberalism.
From Olof Palmes speech at the party congress in 1984:
“From the beginning we may have been somewhat nonplussed before this onslaught from the right with all the misleading slogans about freedom. Now neoliberalism is starting to loose its grasp. These ideas have now been tested in practice. All that has come out of it is widened gaps, increased unemployment, social dismantling and worsened state finances.
They have tried to make the people believe that all these unpleasant things are necessary elements in an economic policy of crisis. We have up til now been
able to show that an economic crisis can be overcome without social dismantling. If we succeed, it is of great importance not only for the citizens of Sweden, but also for the international debate as a whole regarding these issues. Therefor our responsibility is great.
It appears the political agitation on the bourgeois side is at the moment, as well as in 1982, has been overtaken by combat groups, advertising agencies, organisations and more, in one way or another represented by the so called big business…”
Wise words indeed from a lost era and the question unfolds, will anybody dear to investigate this aspect? Only time will tell.
